Role Summary:

This position will be responsible for compliance and controls of the environment for Chubb Fire & Security Corporation and Counterforce Canada.

Key Job Responsibilities:

The position will lead the SOX (Sarbanes Oxley Compliance) activities for Chubb and Counterforce and ensure compliance with all applicable plans, policies, and standards.

Responsibilities included but not limited to:

  • The quarterly verifications of control mechanisms
  • Verifications of Balance Sheet reconciliations in both legal entities
  • Segregation of duties (annual and in all new access requests), the annual exercise of gap assessment, eSOX testing, and checklists
  • Develop and maintain process documentation
  • Develop and communicate testing objectives, plans, and scope by reviewing available information and conducting research
  • Liaise with internal, and external auditors as required
  • Administer performance of certain controls over the financial reporting processes and assist in the design, review, and evaluation of internal controls
  • Monitor fixed asset transactions such as approval for capitalization, disposition, and monitoring compliance with company policies, two legal entities (Chubb and Counterforce), and lead the fixed asset count
  • Supports the Controller with special projects and workflow process improvements.
  • Assist in any regulatory filings, Statistics Canada Surveys, or ad hoc internal reporting and projects as required
  • Support inventory count process (Chubb)
  • Audit Board – leases reporting two legal entities (Chubb and Counterforce)
  • Availability to work evenings if needed, at month end.


  • Post-Secondary Education in Finance, or a Business field
  • Accounting Designation required – CPA, CGA
  • Minimum 5 years in a general accounting role within a large corporate environment with a minimum of 2 years’ experience in SOX activities
  • Knowledge of Canadian sales tax, accounts receivable, accounts payables, fixed assets, inventory, and general accounting principles.

Other Requirements:

  • Must have strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience and capability to perform work in a high-volume, fast-paced environment
  • A keen interest in the financial systems (JDE)
  • Ability to work to deadlines, under pressure.
  • Ability to work on your own initiative and as part of a team
  • Intermediate to advanced Excel required
  • Comfortability in working in a collaborative environment
