PRIMARY FOCUS:

In this exciting role, the responsibility of the Sanitation Supervisor is to maintain and ensure compliance of an efficient and effective Sanitation program complying with legislated food safety standards.

This position reports to the Assistant Plant Manager and will be based in our Edmonton Plant. The role will require shift flexibility, overtime and weekend work as needed.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Development and ongoing maintenance of sanitation program with supporting SOP’s for each job task as required.
  • Lead, train, and ensure sanitation and janitorial employee’s duties are completed safely, properly and on time.
  • Train sanitation and janitorial staff on proper operation of equipment and application of chemicals required for the position.
  • Ensure the proper use of personal protective equipment by staff.
  • Ensure proper use of lockout tagout of equipment by staff.
  • Lead by example at all times by adhering to and promoting The Little Potato Company procedures and policies.
  • Interview, select, coach, train, manage and appraise the performance of sanitation employees.
  • Inform the Plant Manager / HSE Manager of all health and safety issues immediately, recommending corrective actions.
  • Supervise and lead the sanitation and janitorial team to maximize workflow and minimize errors.
  • Maintain general oversight of building conditions with particular attention paid to cleanliness, product storage, safety concerns, product damage prevention and internal security concerns.
  • Dismantle guarding and covers to prepare for deep cleaning and preventative maintenance, assisting maintenance staff to reassemble as required.
  • Ensure sanitation schedule is followed and completed timely and thoroughly.
  • Manage employee schedules including timesheet approvals and time off requests.
  • Be physically able and willing to fill in for absent employees and work alongside staff during shutdowns or lead audit preparation.
  • Follow HACCP policies and GMP’s (good manufacturing processes)
  • Ensure daily p.m.’s are generated, completed and filed on time and as per SOP.
  • Work collaboratively with operations staff to ensure practical and efficient compliance with food safety standards.
  • Problem solve, negotiate, and address staff challenges.
  • Prepare and maintain plant layouts to facilitate pest control.
  • Update weekly sanitation KPI report.
  • Flexible to work on any shift, including weekends, if required.
  • Order and maintain approved levels of sanitation supplies and tools.
  • Responsible for food safety and quality.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent desired.
  • 3+ years of supervisory experience is required.
  • Food manufacturing experience is an asset.
  • Forklift / scissor lift trained.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office.
