Skills and Qualifications

Include, but not limited to, the following minimum skills and qualifications:

Post Secondary Education (2 years);
Five (5) years of previous experience;
Previous weight & balance and/or load planning experience is strongly desired;
Previous aircraft loading and/or ramp experience is strongly desired;
Previous leadership experience is desired;
Previous facilitation experience is preferred;
Ability to work under pressure and make sound decisions;
Ability to work flexible hours as required;
Extensive travel is required;
Proven ability to earn respect through actions;
Excellent time management skills and multi-tasking ability;
Ability to communicate in Inuktut a definite asset;
Ability to obtain and retain an Airport Restricted Area Pass in accordance with the Airport Restricted Area Access Clearance Program regulated by Transport Canada.
Duties and Responsibilities

Interested candidates should be able to perform the following duties and responsibilities:

Actively participate in the Company’s Safety Management System program and demonstrate knowledge of employee responsibilities regarding safety;
Review all W&B related SMS reports to identify and implement corrective;
Provide direct leadership and support to the centralized weight and balance agents in Edmonton, and indirect support to local Load Control and station operations agents, ensuring clear communication, implementing Company policies and procedures;
Ensuring agents remain proficient through periodic testing of skills;
Ensure a continual focus on the safety and security of our weight and balance operation while delivering cost effective, outstanding customer service and on time;
Updating and maintaining the W&B and Load Control manual;
Developing, maintaining and facilitating initial and recurrent W&B and Load Control training for all agents completing load planning and aircraft trim;
Ensuring W&B and Load Control policies and procedures are in place and adhered to throughout the network;
Testing the W&B balance software for all aircraft changes to ensure the revisions are correct and verify most up to date version is in use at all times;
Collaborating with stakeholders in Airports, Flight Operations, Maintenance, Operations, Cargo and any other departments as applicable for all W&B related information;
Working closely with the Supervisor, Cargo and Ramp Training & Procedures to ensure that ramp personnel are adequately trained in W&B related functions (aircraft loading, accurate reporting of weight and positions, ballast, etc.);
Identifying and implementing processes to maximize loading efficiency;
Auditing related processes throughout the network;
Attend to and resolve operational problems as they arise;
Other related duties as assigned.
