Title: Operations Coordinator
Location: Calgary, Alberta
(Quarterly Travel)
Direct Report: Operations Manager

H3M Environmental Ltd. is seeking a motivated individual, experienced in leading a growing team of professionals, to join our team and assist in our continued growth and diversification. Reporting to the Operations Manager this role will be responsible as the primary internal and external point of contact for the management of client portfolio(s) including, but not limited to; environmental applications requirements and support, environmental assessments, construction supervision, environmental monitoring required to support a project from conception through to construction, supervising remediation and reclamation programs and projects.

Role and Responsibilities: Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Manage and coordinate environmental projects in BC and AB, including budget and schedule management, client liaison, technical leadership;
  • Participate in regulatory, industry and stakeholder groups as required;
  • Develop and support environmental continual improvement programs and projects that help achieve H3M environmental goals;
  • Coordinate the preparation of high quality scientific and technical reports, including permits and regulatory requirements;
  • Manage direct reports and manage daily scheduling; and
  • Partake in business development, including developing and managing client relationships, proposal writing, external communications.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Direct and supervise project managers and other environmental professionals. Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with H3M’s policies and applicable laws.
  • Mentor and train junior employees and collaboratively support, work in conjunction with, and advise our various practices.
  • Responsibilities may include:
  • Interviewing, hiring and training employees;
  • Planning, assigning reviewing and directing work;
  • Evaluating and appraising performance;
  • Rewarding and disciplining employees; and
  • Addressing complaints and resolving problems.


  • University degree or technical diploma in an environmental discipline (e.g. biology, environmental science, environmental engineering, geography, earth science, or soil/reclamation science);
  • 5-10 years of environmental experience within the upstream oil and gas industry;
  • This position has quarterly travel requirements to our remote offices (15-25% Travel expectation)
  • Experienced and knowledgeable of British Columbia’s Contaminated Sites Regulations, British Columbia Certificate of Restoration process within the oil and gas industry, British Columbia Oil and Gas regulations as they pertain to remediation and reclamation considered an asset;
  • Knowledge of front-end environmental assessments and the associated Environmental Protection and Management Regulation would be considered an asset;
  • Effective leadership skills (leading by example, mentorship, collaboration, etc.) and project management skills (tracking scope, budget, schedule, QA/QC); and
  • Member or eligible for membership with an environmentally related professional association (eg. P.Ag, ASct, R.P.F, R.P.Bio, P.Eng, P.Geo, P.Chem, etc.) would be beneficial.
