Tomlinson is currently seeking a Route Coordinator for their Industrial Waste Division. The Route Coordinator provides a critical service to the Operations team by assisting with daily scheduling and dispatching of manpower, coordinating appropriate resources for specified jobs and ensuring all equipment and associated documentation is kept up to date.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assess requests from Sales department and Customers in order to schedule appropriate equipment and personnel
  • Schedule projects to maximize resource utilization while ensuring Customer deadlines and expectations can be achieved
  • Maintain a master calendar of upcoming projects with resource details
  • Coordinate daily project requirements with Supervisors and Management
  • Prepare all documentation (manifests/bill of lading) for Drivers
  • Communicate daily assignments to Workers including reporting times
  • Regularly update Supervisor and Operations Manager of all activity progress, changing needs and schedule conflicts
  • Keep Sales informed of any issues that arise that will impact task completion
  • Be the primary contact for Drivers/Operators
  • Coordinate 3rd party trucking and contractors when required
  • Inform Yard Personnel of incoming loads
  • Control inbound/outbound loads coming through scale
  • Be part of the on-call rotation
  • Other duties as required

KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITIES

  • Adept with use of Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook
  • Strong Organizational Skills with demonstrated ability to balance multiple priorities, ensuring timely and accurate completion of tasks
  • Proficient at time management
  • Driven to ensure maximization of all resources through scheduling and monitoring
  • Demonstrate problem solving, trouble shooting and negotiating skills
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and maintain composure under pressure
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to communicate professionally and effectively with customers and co-workers
  • Understanding of Hours of Service
  • Understanding of Transportation of Dangerous Goods, Regulation 347 and Certificate of Approvals
  • Self-motivated, able to work with minimal supervision
  • Willing to work flexible schedule and long hours
